Maggie's Tea Party Dress - Make It!

About a month ago Maggie pointed to this TEA fabric and said "Tea" followed by "dress," I asked, "Do you want mama to make you a tea dress?"  "Yes," she responded.  Knowing toddlers, I probably should have asked a couple more questions to make sure that she wasn't just saying "yes" to anything I asked, like "Do you want to take a nap right now?" or "Would you like to sit at the table and eat a bowl of brocolli?"  However, my heart was like a love-sick puppy at the possibility that my daughter just requested me to make a dress for her and I went right to work.

Maggie had been sick for several weeks and this was one of her first outings after being housebound for almost a month.  Although giddy about her new dress and heart cookie she still wasn't her chipper self but I'm glad to say that she is now back to her normal wonderful self!

It's really hard to take all three kids out and only get a picture of one.  It is inevitable that the others will jump in at some point only being able to contain themselves from doing so for maybe...um, 5 minutes or so.  Lincoln had brownie stuck in his teeth and a two-week old POM tattoo on his arm.  It was the day before Valentine's Day which is why both boys are sporting some heart action on their tees.

How to make Maggie's dress, what you need: Half yard (back -High Tea by Micheal Miller), half yard (front-I used part of a sheet we had), half yard quarter inch elastic, 1/16 yard Heat'n'Bond, and this basic peasant dress pattern (I wish I could direct you to a FREE pattern but they are usually just in one size and you have to figure out how to adjust.  For me, it is just easier to purchase a pattern that comes in all the sizes I need with the help of my printer and scissors!)   Go here for applique and pocket tutorial Make It!  Tea Bag Applique on a Pocket
