Five Presidents and A Lady - Our Historical Action Figures

Jack, Maggie and myself worked on our Mini Presidential Figurines this afternoon....but I'll be honest, by the end of the afternoon it was mostly me!  Jack was super excited and most exuberant in executing his Presidential plans but shafted me in the blink of an eye to go help Mr. Rogers coach baseball.  Maggie bailed for a nap and I was left outside to finish "our" figurines, at least it was a beautiful day.   Lincoln had no interest in helping "create" our historical action figures but he said he plans on making "all the President's villians tonight"... hmmm.

Full craft project available here How-Tuesday: Mini Presidential Figurines by Heidi Kenney

Lincoln selected [dramatic pause] well Lincoln, not surprising.  Jack selected Washington, Teddy Roosevelt, and Kennedy.  In honor of Black History Month, I selected Obama for my President and I had to throw in a woman action figure for Maggie and since we've been going over the Civil War in my A.P. U.S. History class Harriet Tubman seemed the natural choice.

[trumpet sounds]
Welcome historical action figures to our pantheon of action figures!

We tried our best but I think that Lincoln draws a similar apperance to Jack from the Nightmare Before Christmas, JFK to George Bush, and Teddy Roosevelt to Bill Gates ... or 70's Crocodile Rock Elton John!

More on my thoughts about teaching young children history found here, President's Day Everyday!

  2. The boys played with them for over an hour after they went to bed last night! Your kids would love making them!

The dress is your pattern...as I'm sure you noticed. Added some pockets and Maggie loves it!
